Empowering Positive Choices

Child & Family Center’s  Prevention and Outreach Services focuses on reducing the risk of unhealthy behaviors that can lead to substance abuse and violence within the community.

Services include prevention education, community outreach events, and awareness activities that support youth and parents so they can become empowered to make positive choices.

Our Programs Include

Guiding Good Choices offers parenting classes for parents of children ages 9-14.  Parents learn to set clear guidelines on drugs, and learn skills to strengthen family bonds, improve family communication,  help their children develop healthy behaviors, and increase children’s involvement in the family.

Life Skills Training is designed for middle school and high school aged youth and focuses on drug resistance skills, personal self-management skills and social skills. The program is provided at schools and local community centers.

Workshops for youth include a series of six topics covering the Root of Violence, Shaping Our Views, Toxic Relationships, Sexual Violence, Substance Use, Healthy Relationships, Youth and Social Media, Vaping, Bullying and Parenting.
